In the walls of the cubicle there were three orifices. To the right of the speakwrite, a small pneumatic tube for written messages, to the left, a larger one for newspapers; and in the side wall, within easy reach of Winston's arm, a large oblong slit protected by a wire grating. This last was for the disposal of waste paper. Similar slits existed in thousands or tens of thousands throughout the building, not only in every room but at short intervals in every corridor. For some reason they were nicknamed memory holes. When one knew that any document was due for destruction, or even when one saw a scrap of waste paper lying about, it was an automatic action to lift the flap of the nearest memory hole and drop it in, whereupon it would be whirled away on a current of warm air to the enormous furnaces which were hidden somewhere in the recesses of the building.
Responding to our own sonofseawolf on the Daily Slave the other day reminded me of a classic example of the MSM shoving an inconvenient event down the memory hole. One could say it was The Agenda™ being used in support of The Narrative™.
The Narrative™ in this case being that the Mike Brown shooting in Ferguson in 2014 was just another example of out-of-control, white, racist police blowing away innocent, peace loving black youth. Because of course there could be no possible grounds for a cop thinking badly of a black youth - other than innate racism. Black people are no more violent or criminal than anyone else, doesn't The Agenda™ remind us of that every time we watch a film or TV?
Seven arrested, 1 shot as police use tear gas on protesters defying Ferguson curfew
That's ambiguous, sounds like the police shot someone. And in the main story itself, more ambiguity:
The Missouri Highway Patrol said that seven people were arrested and one man had been shot at the site of the protest in Ferguson, Mo. Missouri State Highway Patrol Capt. Ron Johnson said that the shooting victim was in critical condition and had been rushed to a hospital by protesters.
At Wikipedia one can read this:
In the early hours of August 17, tear gas and tactical units were used, despite prior assurances. One of the protesters was shot and critically wounded; police have claimed that they did not fire any shots. Seven other individuals were arrested
In fact there seems to be no link to a police denial on Wiki or anywhere else. Just as there appears to no evidence of them being accused of the shooting in the first place. In other words they weren't denying it because they weren't being accused of it. It seems to have been understood by all parties that this was a protester being shot by an 'unknown suspect'. Now, who would do a thing like that? So Wikipedia seems to be joining in with the MSM in muddying the waters.
In fact Gov. Nixon did deny a police shooting at the time but it seems to be a general clarification not a response to an accusation.
There were a few other news sites that mentioned the shot protester. A couple of them here:
FERGUSON, Mo. -- A man is in critical condition after he was shot during overnight protests in Ferguson, Missouri, State Highway Patrol Capt. Ron Johnson told reporters early Sunday.
FERGUSON, Missouri - Seven people were arrested and one person was shot early Sunday morning as police used smoke and tear gas against protesters who defied a curfew in a St. Louis suburb where a black teen walking down the street had been shot by a white police officer.
But then I came to read this story at the Daily Mail and while it repeats the same basic details as the others - one shot and seven arrested - it does contain some extra details. Firstly that:
Officers seeking person who shot critically-wounded victim this morning
Secondly, this photo:
This is the money shot! To my knowledge this is the only photo of the shot protester. As far as I can tell no other news site used it on the day and it's never been replicated anywhere else - ever. Merely putting it here on the blog doubles it's exposure.
What do we learn? That the protester was white. That the other protesters who came to his aid were white.
What can we infer? That he was shot by a black 'protester' and not by the police.
We can be pretty safe in this assumption as the media/political circus in Ferguson would have gleefully fallen upon a police shooting victim especially an innocent, politically motivated white person, a Deluded White Liberal (DWL). Even moreso because of The Agenda™ in the service of The Narrative™.
What could be more damning to The Narrative™ (peaceful black youth shot by police for no reason) than a seemingly pointless, motiveless shooting of a white youth who wasn't just a passerby but one actively siding with the peaceful black youth in their struggle against oppression?
A year later we still have no idea what happened to him, we don't know his name, we don't know where he was from, which hospital he was taken to, is he still alive? The fact we know none of this only bolsters the suspicion that this was not a police shooting. Would his friends in the photo rather cover for the protesters or the police? Since we know it's not the latter that rather leaves the former.
The very fact that there is total media disinterest in the story and the image tells us what we need to know about the shooter/victim dynamic. Just as is so often the case in other crime stories. The official myth of black non-criminality - part of The Agenda™ - must be maintained. So this story, and especially this photo, must be memory holed.
