SS Britannia: The Example Set by Saint George

Sven Longshanks and Subal are back with a new episode of SS Britannia devoted to St George, in honour of the Saint’s day on April 23rd. George’s father served with distinction in the Roman army and when he died, his son was offered the chance to follow in his father’s footsteps. After fighting with the imperial guard and in the Persian wars, George set up the Nestorian church in Persia. After the war he settled in Beirut, giving his name to the Bay of St George and soon after, travelled to Britain where he saw his old soldier friend Constantine, the son of emperor Constantius Chlorus and the British princess Helena, giving rise to the Irish sea he travelled through being named after him and his heraldry being adopted by Lancaster.

Diocletian’s persecution of the Christians followed soon after this with 10,000 Christians being slaughtered in Britain. George went back to Beirut, gave all his possessions away and went to seek mercy for his brethren from the emperor, thinking his service record would help him. Instead of being swayed by him however, Galerius had him tortured in horribly cruel ways but George refused to back down and disown his faith. He was beheaded and shortly after Diocletian abdicated and Constantius Chlorus died, whereupon Constantine was crowned King in Britain and left for Rome with a British army to be made emperor. Straight away he made Christianity the religion of the empire and his old friend St George the example for all young men of Christendom to emulate, to fight with distinction, to show charity to the poor and to be prepared to die for the truth.

Sven and Subal discuss the history surrounding this, including the later King Arthur, the Trojan origins of Italy, France, Britain and Spain and ask why this history has been hidden from us. Also covered is Ignatius Loyola and the Jesuits, Catholicism, the Norman takeover of Britain and the biological drive that the Jews have to subvert our history. There was a time when everyone knew about Arthur, Constantine and St George, but with the humanist enlightenment and the suppression of Welsh history, people started believing it all to be myth and legend. There are some myths that have become overlaid upon the St George story, but that does not mean the kernel of the tale is untrue.
