Horror, Materialism & The Supernatural

A while back I watched an interesting video by The Distributist on the metaphysics of horror, primarily Gothic Horror, which I though was very interesting. It occurred to me that as our culture became more secular and materialistic so too have the means by which we view horror, namely that what informs horror now straight forward snuff and physical harm, rather than having to face an ethereal, or spiritual evil....

Ruminations On The White Male Suicide Problem

Having lost another friend to suicide I took a fishing trip and ruminated on how men can get the basic needs of life met, in the hope that they do not fall further into the abyss of despair.....

The limit of Christian Morality

By Atdilda

In my estimation one of the central ideas to modern "western" morality is the popular Christian doctrine
Do unto others as you would have them do to you
Which sees as much secular support as it does religious. This underpins our justification for many actions and obligations the state commits to on behalf of its public. We hope that in our times of need someone may take care of us, and should thus be willing to do the same for others, and so nationalized healthcare and the welfare state are justified and funded by the taxpayer.

A Quiet Place And The Web Of Silence

I was absolutely fascinated by the premise of ''A Quiet Place''. Drafting out the script for the video and where I wanted to go it occurred to me that I was having to jump through hoops to prevent the (((censors))) on YouTube being alerted to the ideas in my video. The title had to be free of the word ''white'' for example. This is not how free people live....

Why Did Journalists Become So Hated?

In my new video I take at look the phenomenon of hating journalists. Have we always held journalists in such low regard that we cheer with delight at them being fired? What happened to the press to make them so widely despised and frequently compared to rats and cockroaches?

Mob Response

By Atdilda

Recent events have brought back to my memory a realization that fundamentally changed my outlook on life around one year ago.

The recent event is one of the newer instances of Europeans naively going unprepared to an African nation and being murdered therein. The primary instinctive reaction is one of empathic despair, like when a defenseless animal is predated. Suffering of humans at the hands of other humans is particularly stomach churning, a hopeless situation that concludes only as the tormentor loses interest.

The Tragedy Of Diane Abbott

After another painfully incompetent performance by Diane Abbott last week on Question Time I decided to riff on a post from last year exploring the issue. Is it ethical to catapult people into positions they cannot cope with in the name of equality when such people are exposed and widely mocked by the general public?

Asimov, Foundation & New World Order

My analysis of Isaac Asimov's Foundation books and the manner in which it corresponds to the world we live in today. Can it be that we, like denizens of Asimov's Foundation, are living in a pre-planned history?

Hirsch, Critical Theory & Nihilism

In my new video I take a look at the excruciating Afua Hirsch and Critical Theory. There's little point in moaning about the uncaring British when our identity has been so comprehensively critiqued and deconstructed that there are no values systems left in place, except hedonism and nihilism.

Pacific Rim 2 And The Global Man

I've just spent a few of the remaining hours of my Christmas holidays watching a huge dollop of CGI sewage called ''Pacific Rim 2: Uprising''. Essentially the film is B-Grade tripe telling the tale of monsters coming to earth from another dimension which have to be fought, hand-to-hand, by giant robots with people piloting them from inside.

 I know, I know.

Pacific Rim features a cast nobody has ever heard of, except the African fellow who's popped up in the recent Star Wars movies, at a push. But the cast is certainly very diverse, both racially and sexually. Small Pakistani girls drive robots the size of skyscrapers and one blonde girl seems to be the token inter-gender androgyny box tick.
